I recently purchased a second Fire Stick as my previous remote had stopped working after six years of use. Instead of buying a replacement remote, I decided to purchase a new Fire Stick at a fair price, which included a TV remote. This allowed me to conveniently use a single remote for both devices – the TV and Fire TV. I particularly enjoy using Alexa to find TV content; it is a hit with everyone in my household.

Just be aware. After a year, it’s a gamble.
I had a problem and Amazon fixed it. It was a short talk, easy, and replacement was fast. No complaints here (for the warranty).But the device.. I just don’t get why the stick is so dependent on the remote yet there is no physical button to connect on the stick itself. For the most part, it’s an easy workaround. But what happens when your wifi changes? So you factory reset **with the controller** but after the controller refuses to connect!??! Use your phone as a remote? OH WAIT you can’t because it is not connected to the internet. Push a button on the device to reset or auto connect? Nope. After awhile you give up. Just use it and your phone to stream to it. Oh wait nope. It’s not connected to the internet. Amazon will easily replace it within the warranty. But that means it will be a gamble after a year. Such a simple fix but it could a money strategy.

for 29$ I can’t complain…here’s why
So I had an old samsung 37 inch lying around the basement since the wife wanted a bigger picture in her kitchen. I also have a study that has no TV but has a fireplace and vintage luxman Stereo setup .We have been going back and forth on reasons to not have a tv there but this 50% off deal made it hard to resist.I have 2 firecubes and 1 firestick 4k max already. On a 37 inch I just needed basic hd to make it a smart tv that gives me access to whjat I watch on my other sets. It has the Bell app installed so my wife can watch her shows without adding a whole other terminal from Bell.The picture is great and colors are fantastic on this old set. It streams without glitches but here’s the only niggle for me …the navigation screens and home menu are really choppy. I ran a speed test and it seems fine but still the menus lurch along and lag. That’s my only complaint.Once you start a show it runs flawlessly.

Turned my old TV into a “smart” TV
I was using an old video game console to watch YouTube and stream movies on our old non-smart LG TV in the basement, which was inconvenient: every other time I went to use it, there was a lengthy series of updates, and the apps were super slow. I picked this up half price on the prime day sale, and it’s just what I was looking for: the remote can turn on my tv and adjust the volume, there’s lots of apps available (including free options like Tubi), and it’s at least as fast as my newer smart tv (a Hisense running some version of android). The remote is pretty good, though I wish it was a bit bigger – sometimes it’s awkward to push the navigation buttons without the remote sliding in my hand. I have not tried to use the voice features and don’t intend to, though they might be a good accessibility feature.

Inhance your TV
So easy to operate but it started to freeze all the time so I ordered a second unit so I coud add a different app that gives me approx 54,000 channels or more or less every country and languages that has TV services.I have tried different units that could not operate as simply as this one. I would recomend this to any person. I gave one to my sister with my app that I like and she liked it so much that she ordered 3 more so she could have one for every TV in her home. When you need something to access streaming services this has to be the cats ass for people who are not techie junkies.

Decent but not as good as the Roku
For the last two years, I have tested and compared both the Amazon Fire TV Stick and the Roku Stick. If you want the short of it all… the Roku Stick is better than the Amazon Fire TV Stick if you want a variety of choices, customizability and without having to have any subscriptions.If you ALWAYS will have an Amazon Prime subscription and/or use the Amazon Echo and many other devices around your house there could be an argument to use the Amazon Fire TV Stick over the Roku Stick. In my TV room, I set up the Amazon Fire TV Stick, an Amazon Echo and an Amazon-compatible light and they were all compatible but my TV was too old and I could not use the device to turn it on. Having the devices all plugged in just to be able to turn off the TV did not make sense to me. Using the Amazon TV Fire Stick worked with the other Amazon devices and was easy to set up but I found all the Amazon devices get really hot when compared to Google devices. Around the rest of the house, I am using the Google Hubs and lights and switches made by Globe Electric so I was able to compare the two systems and those devices do not get as hot. If you have a TV that can turn on and off I could see one setting up and enjoying the Amazon Fire TV Stick with an Echo in a TV room. Having the feature to turn it off but not on was kind of annoying. Another negative is when your subscription ends the device prompts you to re-sign up and if you have your grandmother controlling the TV occasionally she would press random buttons and the next thing you know your account is signed up to a music subscription or some movie and even with the password setting on she was still somehow subscribing to things accidentally. Once you are not signed up for Amazon Prime there is no way to really prioritize other content so YES the other free apps can be on the top of your list but overall there is LESS customizability when compared to the Roku Stick.A plus of the Amazon TV Fire Stick is you can search a movie or film and it will find it across all of your apps and subscriptions which apparently I can also do on the Roku but the Amazon seemed to do a better job at that aspect which some people may appreciate. Overall the negatives for me were greater than the positives when compared to Roku. In the end, after testing the two, I have decided to stick with the Roku as it meets our needs more than the Amazon TV Fire Stick. I will hold onto it and maybe try using it when I travel to see how it works. If I had to recommend one hands down I would go with the Roku Stick.

Works good
I already have a more expensive Firestick in my living room but bought this for my bedroom. My tv is an older tv and doesn’t support 4K so it works just as good as the other one. The only issue I have is that it can’t be paired with the volume so I still need to use my other remote for volume and power (this is a tv issue, not Firestick – but I wish I would have know before hand).

It’s great but…
It’s a really great streaming device but I have a few reasons it doesn’t get 5 stars.Firstly, the menu is really laggy. It’s odd for a brand new device to be choppy and take a few seconds to load the Home Screen. So I wasn’t too impressed with that.Next, it has ads. I am really dissatisfied with this. They are few and far between, but I paid in full for my fire stick and I pay my subs. I shouldn’t be getting ads for McDonald’s on my Home Screen. Even if it is just a quick picture on the top, or a quick screen when the screen saver comes up. It’s gross. I hate this ads on everything culture we’re getting pushed into. If it’s not something I can watch or potentially sub to, it shouldn’t be on my fire stick.Thirdly, the Alexa for searching kinda sucks. I was trying to teach my kids to use it to find their shows, but for example, I’ll say search for “Daniel Tiger” and it will bring it up but only the season our subs don’t cover. It’s not even the most recent season, or the first one. So my kids can’t just select and go, I have to manually go in and switch seasons, choose episodes, etc. Same with things like TOTS the kids show on Disney plus. If you say play tots or search tots it doesn’t even bring that up. You have to say the full title “Tiny one’s delivery service” which is a pain in the butt. So we don’t even use Alexa anymore. It takes less time to type what you’re searching in. I thought Alexa was supposed to be a little smarter lol.I wish that the home screen was a little more customizable. Like I almost wish you could just have a screen with your selected apps, instead of having to load all the little pictures of the things I’m not gonna watch.As for the good things, I also have a lot to say! We got it initially to stream discovery plus, as our ps4 didn’t have the app to run it. It runs phenomenally! We don’t get any lag, no “potato vision,” and it rarely buffers. We have the thing hardwired to the modem, which helps. It is so nice to have one convenient remote to access all our services. It can turn the tv on and off and change the volume as well which is awesome. It has live tv (stack tv) for us which is awesome in addition to all the big services. I love the integration of Amazon photos so you can have your own photos as a screen saver, which can be conveniently uploaded from your phone! It really has all we need as a family and we’re overall satisfied!

The Kids Love It!
For some reason, my brand new 55′ Hisense TV bought here STOPPED working. Meaning, no internet. I tried for weeks to get wifi working, then bought this instead of wasting my time.Firestick is excellent. Needed for Netflix, YouTube and Tubi, but easily broken for other streaming. Great controller
This is my second firestick I originally had the lite but it wouldn’t work with my VPN so I decided to up grade and it’s much better my VPN works great I love the controller and I can’t wait to see how it works when I am in Europe as I travel for 6 months every year. The reason I only gave it 4 stars is because the last few times I’ve gone on Amazon tv there’s a problem my show won’t start and each time I’ve had to restart the firestick so I can watch my show so it’s a bit annoying but it is a lot better than my old stick

Turned our regular 10 year old LED TVs to smart TVs. Just make sure your TV has a USB plug in before you buy. So worth it! Easy to use and install especially if you already have an Amazon account and if you lose your remote, you can buy a replacement.

Decent streaming device, however…..
While the device itself is very functional it has one serious drawback for our use. The device times out and boots you back to the user screen when paused for an extended period or inactivity for an extended period. Rokus don’t do this so I have replaced this Fire Stick with another new Roku after being unsuccessful at finding a setting or work around for this inactivity issue.

A few set up issues
Great remote for old tv with my apps. Turned my 2010 tv into a smart tv which is fantastic. The installation was relatively easy and quick with the instructions being on the screen as you go. After a day of use however the home screen went completely blank and I couldn’t access anything with the remote. It took an hour of fiddling and looking up different methods online to finally fix the issue. Other than a few lagging moments, it works great

Great AppleTV replacement
For many years, I faithfully overspent on underperforming apple products. When I recently needed to upgrade an dodder AppleTv I decided to go for an inexpensive FireTV at about a tenth of the price (on sale) and give it a shot.Boy was I very pleasantly surprised. Took a few days to reprogram myself from the Apple interface, but I now greatly prefer Fire and am sorry I didn’t make the switch sooner.

It’s good tv stick if you only watch 1080p video and the video size wasn’t too big. But if you load a big 4K video they will pause and load every couple minutes. So better to choose a 4K version for max compatibility
